Closings rose slightly above 2023 volumes in the third week of the year, according to the Weekly Activity Snapshot from the Houston Association of REALTORS® (HAR).

Home sales rose 1% year over year, with 1,152 closings compared to 1,141 a year prior. Pending sales lagged behind, however, with 1,983 listings going under contract during the week, down from 2,239 in the same week in 2023.

New listings soared above 2023 volumes again — Realtors entered 2,763 properties into the MLS, a 13.4% increase over last year, when 2,436 properties were added to the market.
