New listings jump 17.7% in Houston as closings falter

by Emily Marek

Houston Realtors added 3,545 properties to the MLS during the week ended Sept. 29, according to the Weekly Activity Snapshot from the Houston Association of REALTORS®.

That was a 17.7% increase over the same week in 2024, when 3,011 new listings joined the market.

Both pending and closed listings declined, however: Closed home sales dipped 16.7% year over year, with 1,744 home sales, while pending sales — an indicator of future closings — decreased 7.5% with 1,964 listings going under contract.

However, property showings increased 4.3% year over year, with over 35,000 viewings during the week.
