Pending, closed listings each down over 20% annually

The Houston Weekly Activity Snapshot from the Houston Association of REALTORS.

Although seller activity remained elevated during the week ended Aug. 31, both pending and closed home sales declined by over 20%, according to the Weekly Activity Snapshot from the Houston Association of REALTORS®.

Pending listings dropped 25.5% year over year, with 1,549 properties going under contract. That was down from 2,078 pending listings during the same week in 2025.

Closings also declined 23.1% year over year as buyers purchased 1,552 homes, down from 2,019 a year prior.

New listings increased, though, with 3,258 homes added to the market. That was up 7.5% from the 3,032 listings added during the last week of August 2025.
