Over the years, Shane Davis has owned a few businesses, experiences that taught him patience and how to get things done. In 2006, when he responded to a job opening on Craigslist, he moved on to apply those skills to the lending industry.
As a trusted loan officer for 15 years, Davis aims to simplify the mortgage process, make the home loan experience easy to navigate, and, most importantly, be available to clients from application to closing. “I take pride in thoroughly educating my customers throughout the mortgage transaction so they fully understand their options and feel comfortable with their chosen loan program,” says Davis, vice president of mortgage lending at Guaranteed Rate. “Whether you are a first-time homebuyer or seasoned owner, you can trust me and my team with all of your home financing needs.”
Davis specializes in assisting first-time homebuyers. “They love the fact that I take the time to educate them on the process and give them multiple loan strategies that can be tailored to their financial goals,” he shares. By focusing on education and improving his loan meetings with clients, he recently increased his rate of loans closed from 38% to 54%. “I work on relationships, not files,” proclaims Davis. As a result, 100% of his business is based on referrals.
To educate each client on mortgage strategy and provide them with intelligent, sound advice, Davis uses a total cost analysis. “I give them a beginning, a middle and an end,” he says. “I’m known as the guy who gets things done.” From 2019 to 2020, he increased his business by 168% while still managing to maintain a 71% purchase business.
Personally, Davis is most proud of surviving 2020 with three kids under the age of 8.
