Melissa Williams is a Realtor for Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Anderson Properties in Houston.

What was your first job in the realty industry?
My first job in the realty industry was a Realtor.

Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Houston; specifically in the Spring Branch/Memorial Villages areas.

What is your favorite free-time activity?
My favorite free-time activity is walking through neighborhoods; taking in the beautiful landscaping. And sometimes, I just want to catch a good movie.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed?
When I’m stressed, I read a good book, visit with friends and family or catch a movie. I turn off all the electronics and get back to “the real” things.

Growing up, what did you want to be?
Growing up, I wanted to be a fashion designer. I was (still am) a graphic designer. I love typography and fashion.

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why?
If I could have lunch with a well-know figure, I would want to have lunch with Keanu Reeves. I just think he has a wonderfully open, fresh perspective about life.

Where is your favorite place to hang out?
My favorite place to hang out is…my home.

What do you love most about the industry?
What I love most about real estate is the opportunity it gives me to meet diverse people and see how people live.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents?
My mantra is to treat others the way I would like to be treated. I am obsessive about customer service. My goal is to ensure that my clients are heard and that their experience with me is pleasant and professional. I am here to do my best for them.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job?
The most difficult aspect of my job is letting people know about what I do without being obtrusive. People don’t always want to hear about real estate until they are in the market for something real estate related.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients?
I still consider myself “new” to real estate, so I network and meet clients wherever I go.

What has been your greatest accomplishment?
My greatest accomplishment is working freelance for the past three years as a Notary Signing Agent (helping homeowners sign their refinance paperwork). Then of course, passing the State of Texas Real Estate Exam is a close second.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read?
The last good movie I saw was “Pacific Rim” with Charlie Hunnam. The last good book I read was “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho – inspiring!

What is your favorite restaurant?
My favorite restaurant is Lupe Tortilla.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Houston?
I don’t really have a favorite building, but my favorite architectural style is Transitional.

What kind of car do you drive?
I drive a black Toyota Corolla.

Smartphone or paper?
I use a smartphone – specifically an iPhone.

What is your favorite city after Houston?
My favorite city after Houston is Austin – the Lago Vista, Marble Falls areas.

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app?
My favorite iPhone app is HAR.

Who are your favorite people to follow on Twitter?
@langleav, @TylerKnott, @SocialInHouston, @DanielleLaPorte, @TheDailyLove and @Zen_Moments.
