Construction set to begin for master-planned community Candela

by Kerrie Kennedy

Candela, a new master-planned community in Richmond, has released its first homesites to builders.

Builders Coventry Homes, Perry Homes and Westin Homes have received a total of 96 40-, 50- and 60-foot homesites in its first phase. Pricing is expected to range from the mid $200,000s to the $500,000s with pre-sales slated to begin this month.

“These are outstanding builders who are expected to bring a wide variety of home designs to Candela,” said Johnson Development Services CEO Michael Cox in a press release. “The builders — coupled with an excellent location near the Westpark Tollway and a generous amenity package — should be very appealing to buyers.”

Each builder will open three model homes, with a grand opening featuring 60 to 70 inventory homes tentatively planned for next spring.

Located along FM 359 about a mile south of the Westpark Tollway, Candela spans approximately 460 acres and when complete, will feature more than 1,500 homes as well as an amenity center with meeting space, fitness center, resort pool, yoga lawn and a courtyard with fire pit. Other outdoor amenities include a playground, pavilion and dog park.

“Our aim is to have amenities in place in time for our first residents to enjoy them right after they move in or soon after,” Cox added.

An affiliate of Houston-based developer Johnson Development Corp., Johnson Development Services focuses on smaller communities in the Johnson portfolio, including Alder Trails, Amira, Grand Vista, Lost Creek and Willow Creek Farms.
