Pending sales continue downward trend in Houston

The Houston Weekly Activity Snapshot from the Houston Association of REALTORS.

Pending home sales declined 19.6% year over year in Houston during the week ended July 20, according to the Weekly Activity Snapshot from the Houston Association of REALTORS®.

Buyers contracted on 1,829 listings, down from 2,275 during the same week in 2025. That marked the 10th-straight week of year-over-year declines following a marginal annual increase during the week ended May 11.

New and closed listings also declined annually during the week: New listings fell 5.5%, with 3,898 sellers adding homes to the MLS, while closings dipped 1.7%, with 1,833 home sales.

Traffic at showings and open houses and online traffic on HAR.com also declined annually, indicating a seasonal decline in potential buyer activity.
