Highland Homes to develop community in Fulshear

by Emily Marek

Highland Homes will self-develop 188-acres at a Hines community in Fulshear.

While Hines is handling development of the 3,000-acre community at large, Highland will be responsible for the development of a section of land that will accomodate about 620 homes. That will include lot development, as well as roads, water and utilities.

The project is a major step in the builder’s foray into self-developed communities.

“Typically, when we purchase lots from a developer, all of the horizontal construction is complete,” Jeff Stinson, senior vice president of land for Highland Homes, said in a press release. “In this case, we’ll be handling both horizontal and vertical development and construction within our portion of the community.”

Stinson added that Highland is “pursuing more opportunities across the state,” and that the builder “[hopes] to make more announcements soon.”
