Bonny Roman is an agent with VIP Realty in Houston.

What was your first job in the realty industry?
A property manager for a residential community consisting of 54 town homes in Northwest Houston.

Where did you grow up?
The Chicagoland area.

What is your favorite free-time activity?
Reading, working out and watching documentaries or shows on Netflix.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed?
During the day, a great workout always helps relieve my stress, and at night, a nice glass of wine on my porch is a must!

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why?
Katrina Campins, founder of the Campins Company, because she is a true modern and successful businesswoman that aims at empowering others to be greater.

Where is your favorite place to hang out?
Life gets so busy and hectic that as long as I get some time to enjoy my family and friends, I can hang out anywhere and be happy.

What do you love most about the industry?
The technological changes the industry is currently undergoing, which benefit my clients and myself in regards to marketing and time flexibility.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents?
Different types of social media, such as Twitter or my blog, HoustonHabitats.com, allow me the opportunity to share my interests, thoughts and experiences, which distinguish me from other Realtors.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job?
Finding a balance between work and family time. Real estate is a 24/7 job and it’s important to me to find time during the day that is dedicated to my family.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients?
Social media is my go-to networking tool. It is also extremely beneficial for meeting new clients.

What has been your greatest accomplishment?
I’ve had many accomplishments, but I think the greatest is a work in progress – the balance of building my business and career, while at the same time caring for my family.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read?
“A Discovery of Witches,” by Deborah Harkness; it’s a grown-up version of “Twilight.”

What is your favorite restaurant?
I’m a huge fan of Ocean’s in Montrose; they serve unique ceviche and seafood dishes. I love to go there and enjoy their ceviche and margaritas on there outdoor patio.   

What kind of car do you drive?
A Chevy Trailblazer.

Smartphone or Paper?
Smartphone; I love my Droid.

What is your favorite city after Houston?
Chicago.

What is your advice for someone new to the industry?
It’s important that you and your brokerage share the same business mentality.

What’s your favorite Real Estate iPhone/ Blackberry app?
The HAR app.

Who are your favorite people to follow on Twitter?
I like to follow industry members and leaders, as well as industry publications, such as Houston Agent, because they keep me current and inspired.
