After joining Rate a year ago as the senior vice president of market and growth development, Brett Snortland has already brought in $750 million in business. Based in Houston, he focuses on expanding the company’s presence and production across the nation while driving growth through recruitment, development and sales strategy.

“My team at Rate is unmatched in their commitment to both technology and talent,” Snortland shares. “I’m excited to build on that foundation and help drive significant growth across the West.”
With more than 30 years of experience in sales and recruiting within the mortgage industry, Snortland started his career as a professional golfer in 1993 after golfing for the University of Texas. After playing the tour for three years, he accepted a position with Republic Mortgage Insurance Company. “I’ve built my business off relationships and trust,” he explains. “My network knows I am transparent, and I will always answer the phone.”

Named Rate’s 2025 Rookie of the Year, Snortland earned Good to Great and Account Executive of the Year awards from Interfirst Mortgage. His proven track record of success includes funding more than $20 billion throughout his career, including $3.1 billion in 2020 and 2021 alone. “People trust that I know my company and know if it’s a model match for them,” he points out. “I build a friendship and confidence with people before asking for their business.”

After introducing and running the No. 1 junior golf event in the country, Snortland recently received the Digger Smith Award for growing the sport of junior golf. He has been married for 33 years to his wife, Carrie. They are the proud parents of three sons: Jake, Dylan and Beau.
