HAR: Closings decline more than 20% in Houston

Closed home sales decreased 20.4% year over year in Houston during the week ended Sept. 7, according to the Weekly Activity Snapshot from the Houston Association of REALTORS®.

Buyers purchased 1,455 properties during the week, down from 1,827 during the same week in 2025. Pending listings plummeted 29.5%, meanwhile, with 1,496 listings going under contract.

At the same time, sellers also pulled back from the market, with new listings falling 4.7% year over year to 3,398.

Traffic at showings and open houses also declined annually, as did listing views on HAR.com: Showings decreased 5.1% to 34,747; open houses decreased 8.9% to 9,239; and listing views fell 15.1% to just over 5.26 million.
